Back in 1999 I was discouraged. I wanted fabric covered Cornices to top my brand new Vertical Blind Window Treatments. The toppers that came with the blinds looked like I was living in a rental. I shopped for Cornices everywhere, even Home Depot, and was absolutely shocked at the high cost per window. Not made of money and having a little talent at crafting I felt that I could make my own Cornices. I found that do-it-yourself Kits were available. The Kits I found were made from Styrofoam, soft foam and cardboard or cardboard alone. Materials that didn’t impress me with their strength. The finished product of these Kits looked "homemade" to me because the Styrofoam was too thick and the cardboard too thin. The Kits just did not offer the same look of professionally made Cornices. I wanted my finished Cornice to look like a professional did it. OK, I am a little picky, but I did not want to invest my time and money in something that didn’t look right. So, I turned to my husband, an avid woodworker and I laid out what I wanted. He warned me that a rigid frame made from plywood or MDF like the professional’s use would be quite heavy, hard to hang and a problem in earthquake territory like California. When shopping for professional Cornices I was told I would have to buy the "hanging service" because of the extreme weight. So I asked my husband if he could figure a way to make them strong, rigid and lightweight! After a couple of tries, he came up with what was the first D-I-Y Cornice Frame. I was so proud of my Cornices and how good they looked I showed them off to everyone. Soon my family and friends and their friends were asking for a Cornice Frame. We don’t know who said it first, but the idea that this Cornice Frame could be a Kit was just a natural.

Our specially designed hanger bracket is made so you can easily hang and take down your Cornice as often as you like to recover it for that special Holiday look or just to give it a good cleaning. But most of all the heavy weight of a fabric covered Cornice has been solved with a unique ladder frame tongue and groove construction that makes the Frame rigid, strong and light! After I formed the Company we got hooked up with Hancock Fabrics and it just took off. The response was unbelievable. So much so that we were just buried. It was just too much. Thus I had to reevaluate what I wanted. Today, we have focused on the Internet and are only dealing with a few stores. The company is the perfect size and your response is even better because I have the opportunity to talk to so many of you through e-mails. I hope that we have designed the website to be friendly to you. Yes it may be a bit wordy but I have always been unhappy with sites that don’t supply me complete information. I can always choose to read it or not. We open with a complete explanation of the kit. We have also published the assembly directions, covering tips and more. You know I have been very careful whenever I use my Credit Card on the Internet. I think many of you are like me. Thus when I reviewed methods to accept Credit Card payments on the site I wanted a service that had the resources to make each and every transaction completely secure. I chose PayPal. Yes it is a little different than most, they want you to sign up as a member, its free, but being an E-Bay company they have the resources and expertise to make your credit card transaction completely secure. And I liked the fact that if you have any trouble, you have your Credit Card Company and PayPal/E-Bay behind you to make it right. If you want to know more about PayPal click here. If you are still uncomfortable, we do a very active mail-in order business. All you need to do is print out the mail-in order form on the opening page of the "ordering" section of the website. Include your check or money order and mail it in. Provide your e-mail address and we let you know that we received your order and when it will be shipped. An added bonus is that all mail-in orders are free shipping. We are saving the cost of processing your credit card so why not pass the savings on to you!
